In a brazen daylight incident, a man driving a black Alfa Romeo was targeted by a group of masked men on Interstate 10 (Santa Monica Freeway) in Los Angeles. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on October 24, and other motorists captured the robbery on video.
Highway Robbery Unfolds
The victim was driving in the Mid-City area west of the Arlington Avenue exit when a black Dodge Caravan carrying four masked men intentionally collided with the victim’s car, causing it to become disabled and veer off the interstate onto the shoulder.
Robbery in Plain Sight
Videos posted on social media by witnesses depict the victim kneeling beside his car with his hands raised as the suspects proceeded to rob him. Initial reports indicated that the suspects were armed with a firearm, but further investigation by law enforcement revealed they were carrying a hammer and crowbar.
Escape in a White Chevrolet Malibu
Following the assault, the suspects fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Malibu that was waiting nearby. The Dodge Caravan was left behind on the side of the highway. The suspects were last seen traveling eastbound on I-10.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) Investigation
The CHP responded to the incident but has not yet identified any suspects. Sgt. Alejandro Rubio of the CHP stated that the investigation is in its preliminary stages, and no arrests have been made at this time.
